Wilford Schupp to design Music School in Filderstadt

21.11.2013:

Wilford Schupp Architekten have been commissioned by Karl Schlecht Foundation (KSG) with the design of a new music school building. It will be located between the rotunda-shaped gym and the junior high school in Filderstadt-Bernhausen. The community council has already approved the project. The aim of the music school will be to foster children’s and adolescents’ musical education, but also to teach them important personal and common values.

A comprehensive functional concept

On a floor space of 3.200 sqm, the building will meet different functional requirements: The new concert hall will provide seats for 280 people. There will also be exercise rooms for a variety of instruments like strings, piano, guitar and percussion. As part of an innovative teaching concept, there will be “exercise booths” where students can play their instruments in their spare time. Furthermore room for music therapy will be offered. And of course there will be offices for teachers and the head of the school. Students will be catered with meals by the cafeteria that is due to be integrated in the music school’s foyer.

According to the city’s mayor, Gabriele Dönig-Poppensieker, the project will enrich Filderstadt’s educational landscape and bring more people there. For more information on the project please make sure to visit Karl Schlecht Foundation’s homepage.
